Masters at the afternoon siesta, they carefully split their sleeping time, spending three-quarters in a gentle snooze-like state and the rest in full-on slumber. They recognise the POWER OF A GOOD CAT NAP. It also means that although they’re deeply relaxed, they’re still alert enough not to miss any action of interest! When they’re in deep sleep mode they also dream, something we can tell from the rapidly twitching whiskers. Like humans, their brain takes this time to work through the issues of the day, like where that hole in the fence goes.
The difference between cats and humans is that cats embrace their napping time. Forty winks is ALWAYS guilt-free and part of their daily routine.
CATCHING A CAT NAP
Whilst we may not have time to sleep for nearly sixteen hours every day, we can learn some important lessons from our furry gurus. A cat nap to a human is like catnip to a cat; one small dose can perk us up for the rest of the day!
